Internship Opportunities

Internships are one of the many ways in which EveryMind is helping to build the next generation of mental health service providers. Internships are available for a semester or the entire school year. Our internships may be paid or unpaid, depending on the program. Interns will be eligible for school credit. Weekly supervision is provided to interns.

UNDERGRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES:

Seeking interns who are energetic and committed individuals. Interns will work closely with staff on a variety of tasks, including program coordination and assistance, outreach, event planning, donor and volunteer management, and administrative duties. Work schedule is flexible however candidates must be able to commit to between 10-15 hours per week. The internship will provide interns with an opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Develop, promote, and implement programs for elementary and middle school aged children
  • Work with a diverse, multicultural population
  • Work with immigrant and/or low-income families
  • Case management and social service delivery
  • Data collection and needs assessments
  • Budget management
  • Work with a school-based collaboration model
Linkages Intern Application

GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES:

Seeking interns in social work, marriage and family therapy, or counseling psychology programs. Linkages to Learning is a community school partnership with an integrated focus on health, social services, community development, and engagement to support student learning, stronger families and healthier communities. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. The internship will provide interns with an opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Opportunity to provide individual counseling to children and adolescents as well as family counseling
  • Opportunity to facilitate groups in school-based settings
  • Weekly clinical supervision and bi-monthly group consultation
  • Work with a diverse, multicultural population
  • Working with immigrant and/or low-income families

Case Management Services

ADULT – GRADUATE INTERNS ONLY:

Seeking an intern for a team which offers case management and ongoing assistance to formerly homeless adults with mental illness who are living independently in permanent supportive housing. Candidates must be able to commit to at least 2 days per week for at least 5-6 hours each day. Hours of availability need to be between 9:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday. Interns must have a personal vehicle and the ability to drive throughout Montgomery County. Transporting of clients is not permitted. The internship will provide interns with an opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Work directly with case managers and clients to ensure program participants are connected to the resources they need to help them achieve self-sufficiency
  • Assist clients with food resources and support
  • Connect clients with community resources
  • Support clients with annual recertification process associated with maintaining stable housing

YOUTH – UNDERGRADUATE & GRADUATE INTERNS:

Seeking energetic interns who can work a flexible schedule and enjoy working youth. Students in counseling, psychology, social work, criminal justice, or sociology are the best fit. Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are preferred, but not required. The internship will provide interns with an opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Provide presentations to youth and/or parents on various topics
  • Design and implement group activities for elementary school and middle school-aged youth
  • Co-facilitate psycho-educational groups and provide case management services for youth
  • Assist with research and data collection and analysis
  • Develop service learning curriculums to be implemented with youth

Marketing & Development

Seeking an intern to assist with various development, marketing and communications functions including: data entry and maintenance, social media, research, website management, blogging, and outreach. Students pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or marketing preferred, with an interest in mental health. The internship will provide the opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Assist in managing social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram)
  • Assist with day-to-day website management on WordPress
  • Monitor news
  • Research
  • Assist with guest blogger recruitment
  • Write blog posts
  • Assist with collecting stories and pictures for marketing materials
  • Database maintenance and list management

Counseling Services

Counseling Services Intern Application

Youth & Family Counseling – Graduate Opportunities Only

Seeking an advanced social work or counseling intern who is bilingual in Spanish to assist with providing clinical mental health services to Spanish and French-speaking immigrants who are low-income, uninsured, and newly-arrived to the United States. Many clients have experienced severe trauma, as well as issues around family separation and reunification, grief, and loss. Services are provided at EveryMind’s main offices in Rockville, MD. This internship will provide the opportunity to develop the following skills:

  • Opportunity to work with licensed mental health professionals
  • Conduct client assessments
  • Maintain ongoing contact with clients
  • Provide individual or family therapy
  • Provide case management
  • Assist with materials, research, and outreach

Wellness Center

Wellness Center Application

Seeking interns in social work or counseling for an opportunity to work with an advanced licensed mental health professional to provide individual, family, and group therapy. Wellness Centers are administered by EveryMind’s partner nonprofit, Identity, Inc. Interns will work cooperatively to provide mental health related services to youth and families referred to the Wellness Center by school staff. Students bilingual in Spanish are preferred, but not required. Wellness Centers are located in Gaithersburg High School and Watkins Mill High School.
